Men’s Dress Code
If you’re opting out of formal night attire, you don’t need to stay in your stateroom all night! Formal night dress code is generally only required in the main dining room during dinner. (Some cruise lines also require formal attire in specialty restaurants on formal nights). Men may wear slacks with collared dress shirts or sweaters, but jackets are optional. Women should choose dresses, pantsuits or skirts or slacks with nice tops.
Onboard FAQ

Many cruise lines have a “smart casual” dress code in their specialty restaurants, making them a popular choice on formal nights for those who want to avoid dressing up. But double-check dress codes—some cruise lines (Carnival for example) have the same dress code in their specialty restaurants as in the MDR on formal nights. Evenings are typically “elegant casual,” and recommended attire includes slacks with collared dress shirts or sweaters for men, but jackets are optional. Women should choose dresses, pantsuits or skirts, or slacks with nice tops.
Special Events at Sea
Most people do get a little dressed up for dinner even though they don’t go all out formal. Uniformity across the fleet is a bit more likely on this small-ship upscale cruise line. In other words, Oceania Riviera's dress code is likely enforced the same as Oceania Regatta's dress code. What Paul Gauguin Cruises calls elegant resort wear is essentially a country club casual dress code and is requested for most evenings. Men should wear slacks and collared shirts, while women should don dresses, skirts or slacks with blouses or sweaters. Oceania's dress code is simple and casual, which may come as a welcome surprise to those who know the line as a luxury option.
Does Everyone on the Ship Dress Up?
If dressing up just isn’t your thing, you can absolutely skip formal night on a cruise! The main dining room will have a formal dress code, but you can always have dinner at the buffet or order room service. In general, cruise lines that have formal nights will have two each week on a seven-day cruise. On short cruises (less than five days), there often isn’t a formal night. When you’re deciding what to wear for formal night on a cruise, it’s a good idea to know how many formal nights your sailing will have.
MSC vs Royal Caribbean: my opinion after I’ve tried both!
As a courtesy, the onboard staff will assist in following up with the airline; however, any costs incurred in forwarding the luggage to the ship is at the guest’s expense. Guests who have purchased travel protection should verify with their policy carrier regarding Baggage Protection, which may include baggage delay coverage. Please keep all receipts for submission and contact your travel plan administrator for assistance. Typically, airlines are able to arrange alternative flights at the airline counter for passengers to continue with their travel to the point of embarkation. It is the airline’s responsibility to make alternate flight arrangements resulting from a delay or cancellation. Every Princess ship is equipped with an advanced cellular communications network.

If you plan on checking out a specialty restaurant (a cover charge applies) their dress code is always smart casual. The staterooms are comfortable as can be, whether you’re sailing in an interior or a suite. But of course the higher the category, the nicer the experience. If you want the freedom to go outside from your stateroom, go with a balcony. (No matter where we sail, there’s always a great view.) And if you want more space – and a larger bathroom with tub – we recommend a mini suite.
Onboard Activities
Pizza, burgers, hot dogs and ice cream can be found at various dining locations. Complimentary jarred stage 1 & 2 baby food is available, if requested in advance via the Cruise Personalizer. Additionally, pureed fruits or veggies can be requested in the main dining room. During Viking cruises to Alaska and Antarctica dress codes are likely to be even more relaxed as outdoor ondeck and onshore activities often take place well into the evenings. It's a bit of a challenge to bundle up for sky watching in fancy clothes. As on other lines, you may find that the official dress code may be lightly enforced on some ships, often in relation to destination and even size of the ship.
Revel in time-honored traditions, from Halloween pumpkin carving and a Thanksgiving turkey carving contest, to Hanukkah festivities, Christmas carolers and our famous Atrium snowfall. There's no better place to celebrate than on a Princess ship. Enjoy live music, folkloric performances, acrobats and jugglers, even cocktail and food carving demonstrations. Plus, you'll find great shopping, gourmet treats in the International Café, bars, and more great cruise entertainment only a few steps away.
Every cruise also features a great selection of recent hit feature films for your viewing pleasure. Movies Under the Stars lights up your life - day and night. Princess Cruises offers private shipboard ceremonies for those guests who want to honor their loved ones by resting their ashes at sea. This service must be arranged prior to sailing and approved in advance.
Also through the MedallionClass® app, you can chat/text with your kids, anywhere on board. Camp Discovery and Beach House Teen Lounge is open during the day and evening for your convenience, on sea days and port days. From 10PM – 1AM, we offer group babysitting in the centers for kids ages 3-11 for $5 per child per hour.
Once you arrive onboard, report this delay to the Passenger Services Desk, providing the claim number and bag description. If your delay involves missing the ship in the port of embarkation, you must immediately contact the En Route Desk to confirm that you will be permitted to join the vessel at the next port of call. In certain instance, you will not be permitted to join the vessel at the next port, if the late embarkation will result in a violation of the Passenger Vessel Services Act (PVSA). In addition, kosher meals and baby food are available upon advance written request.
